Experiences

Computational Geometry Engineer II

November 2018 - Present

Computational Geometry Engineer

September 2018 - November 2018
Fictiv - San Francisco, CA
  • Wrote software in C++ and Python to process CAD part files and predict the cost of manufacturing
  • Used mechanical engineering knowledge to write software that gives automatic DFM feedback
  • Wrote custom Genetic Algorithm to analyze historical orders and make predictions
  • Worked in a cross-functional software team to write code in THREE.js to enable DFM visualizations

Materials Engineering Division Intern

May 2014 - August 2017 (Seasonal)
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory - Livermore, CA
  • Researched new light-directed electrophoretic deposition (EPD) techniques
  • Developed software using Python to control 3D Printers and allow users to selectively cancel parts on the bed
  • Wrote LabVIEW software to interface with hardware pumps and automate the EPD process
  • Used SOLIDWORKS to design fixtures and adapters necessary for experiments
  • Created the first draft of safety guidelines for a new microcapsule fabrication process
  • Synthesized Li7La3Zr2O12 and characterized it using X-Ray diffraction
  • First author of paper published in Additive Manufacturing
  • First author of 1 paper currently in process of submission
  • Second author of paper published in Key Engineering Materials
  • Inventor on 2 patents filed based on research I performed
  • Presented work at a Materials Research Society conference in Phoenix, CA
  • Work I performed presented by mentors in Austin (TX), Austria and South Korea

Undergraduate Research Assistant II

October 2015 - June 2016
University of California, Davis - Davis, CA
  • Prepare particle suspensions, measured their conductivities and pH
  • Used confocal microscope to study height bifurcation of colloids in basic solution when subject to AC electric fields

Math Lab Tutor

Fall 2012 - Spring 2014
Laney College - Oakland, CA
  • Taught students organizational skills, course material, and effective methods to study.
  • Tutored math from Arithmetic to Vector Calculus and at times Physics and Chemistry

Projects

Investigation into Energy Efficiency of Vector Field Based CNC Toolpaths - Compiled, modified, and integrated C++ software for the generation of vector-field based toolpaths for CNC machining. Improved process efficiency of previous approach by over 6.5%. Discovered systematic errors in previously published work and implemented improvements to experiments in order to make data collection more meaningful.
3D Printer Word Search Solver - Used optical character recognition to solve word search puzzles. Code generates g-code for a 3D printer such that it can solve the puzzles with an attached writing instrument. Designed a suitable writing instrument attachment for my 3D printer's toolhead.
Camera Interact - UC Berkeley Computer Graphics final project: An interactive lesson aimed at teaching camera concepts written in THREE.js
Embedded Sensors in Additively Manufactured Parts - UC Davis Mechanical Engineering senior project exploring the feasibility and accuracy of embedded sensors in 3D printed parts. Compared experimental beam strains to CAD simulations. Created Wheatstone bridge circuit to measure internal strains in 3D printed beams using embedded strain gauges
Wanhao 3D Printer Rebuild - Upgraded printer electronics using an Arduino Mega and a RAMPS shield. Changed wire type to Dupont connectors. Routed heated bed power through a MOSFET. Performed a Z-brace modification for system stiffness
